Quandary Consultants seek a dynamic leader to expand our Air Quality program. This role involves leading the growth and development of our Air Quality program, cultivating client relationships, identifying new business opportunities, providing technical expertise and oversight, while being an effective people leader and fostering our culture of continuous improvement, personal growth, and accountability, in line with the “Quandary Way.” The ideal candidate will have a blend of leadership skills, solid financial and business acumen, technical expertise in air quality, with a desire to work in an exciting and dynamic work environment.
Supervisory Responsibilities:Responsible for leading all team members within the Air Quality Program
Responsible for ensuring direct reports are leading those that they manage effectively and in line with Quandary policies and procedures
Responsible for continuously evaluating resource needs and collaborating with HR to hire technical or management team members when necessary to foster growth
Responsible for delegating work, ensuring efficient workflow to the appropriate team members to both their direct reports and all those in the program
Responsible for mentoring and training direct reports and all those who are in the program when necessary
Responsible for timely performance reviews for direct reports ensuring they are doing the same for theirs per Quandary’s policies and procedures
Leadership Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the Air Quality Program, including our permitting and compliance group and air monitoring program, overseeing day-to-day operations and strategic direction
Develop and execute a multi-year strategic growth plan for the Air Quality program to align with Quandary’s objectives. Ensure the financial viability of strategic growth decisions with assistance and oversight from the Sr. Operations Director, Finance Director, and Owners
Accountable for utilization, billing rates, revenue growth, and gross margins
Evaluate, improve, and implement/update internal program tools, processes, procedures, for effective and efficient project execution
Develop and maintain client relationships, understanding their unique needs to propose creative consulting solutions
Actively develop new business opportunities outside of current clientele and assist Quandary overall by cross selling our other services to existing and potential clients
Proactively seek out and participate in trade and professional associations to support networking and business development
Stay current with industry trends
Ensure project timelines and deployments are effectively managed and maintained
Demonstrate commitment to safety and environmental compliance in all job aspects
Monitor federal, state, and local air quality regulations and rulemakings
Required Skills/Abilities:
Strong leadership presence with leadership philosophies in line with Quandary Mission Statement
Experience scaling and leading through growth
Professional demeanor with excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to teach, mentor, support, and provide clear expectations to direct reports
Efficient and effective at determining creative solutions to problems

Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced and challenging environment
Proficiency with Microsoft Suite
Valid driver’s license and proven safe driving record
Education and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental or chemical engineering, or related field
15+ years of experience in technical air quality consulting, regulatory, or private industry
5+ years of effective leadership and managerial experience, leading and mentoring a team of direct reports, preferably with multiple layers of management
10+ years of proven experience effectively managing projects, meeting budgets, and being the main point of communication for client contact
Experience interpreting complex state and federal regulations to determine applicability to varying client facilities and scenarios
Familiarity with oil and gas equipment, operational practices, field environment, technical and engineering terms related to these practices
Advanced degree, leadership accreditations or course completions, and strategic planning experience a plus.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Standing and/or sitting for prolonged periods of time
Inclement weather when field visits are required
Occasional travel may be required, including an overnight stay
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
Expected Salary: $165,000.00 - $195,000.00 DOEJob Type: Full-time Exempt
Bonus Potential: Annual performance-based bonus
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 40+ hours per week
Work Location: Denver, CO: Reliably commute to Denver office daily

Applicants will be local to Colorado Western Slope and able to travel to the Quandary office located in Rifle, CO for office hours and meetings. Applicants should be highly organized, a good written and oral communicator, and be willing to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Attention to detail and strong technical writing skills are essential qualities.
Responsibilities:
Perform soil and groundwater sampling for remediation programs
Independently and collaboratively conduct fieldwork in remote and urban locations, including active construction sites
Travel for short-term and long-term assignments when required by client
Collect detailed, accurate, scientific field data
Assist with creation of client deliverables including written reports and maps
Collect baseline water quality samples, write client reports, and submit agency filings
Log soil borings and oversee the installation of groundwater monitoring wells
Conduct stormwater BMP inspections
Interpret and manage spatial data using ESRI products, Google Earth, or similar platforms
Perform occasional Natural Resources surveys
Occasionally assist with placement and maintenance of Air Monitors
Actively participate in safety programs and support a safe work culture
Key Skills/Abilities:Scientific and/or technical writing experience
Experience collecting soil and groundwater samples
Understanding and interpretation of soil and water quality laboratory data
Federal, State, and local regulatory knowledge
Ability to travel to remote locations alone with minimal supervision
Interpret and mange spatial data using ESRI suite of products, Google Earth, and similar platforms
Strong problem-solving skills
Enjoy working with a diverse team
Keen attention to detail
Ability to lift 40-50 pounds
Teachable, fast learning, and willing to learn new skill sets
Willing to attend environmental training courses when applicable

Education/Experience:Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, or related filed
4-10 years of consulting experience
40-hour HAZWOPER certification preferred
CPR/AED certification preferred

Quandary Consultants is seeking a Senior Air Quality Scientist to join our growing Air Quality team. This position will support various new and existing air quality permitting and compliance Oil and Gas projects including, preparation of emission inventories, permit application development, regulatory review, compliance recordkeeping, greenhouse gas reporting air monitoring, etc.
Duties/Responsibilities
Work directly with clients to perform and coordinate air compliance and permitting tasks
Conduct air emissions calculations for permitting, emissions inventories, annual compliance reporting, and greenhouse gas reports
Conduct peer review of teammates’ calculations and reports, providing constructive feedback
Prepare and submit air permit applications to state and federal agencies
Utilize emissions modeling software
Proficient in state, federal, tribal, and local air compliance and permitting regulations and assist clients in implementing operational and reporting requirements
At times, overnight client work may be required but is not expected
Assist in preparation, deployment, and all sampling aspects of air monitoring activities
Demonstrate commitment to safety and environmental compliance in all job aspects
Provide guidance to clients for site design/operations to ensure compliance with regulations
Act as a liaison between clients and regulatory agencies
Analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify safety risks, analyze data, and develop effective solutions
Required Skills/AbilitiesProfessional demeanor and experience writing technical reports

Familiarity with oil and gas equipment, operational practices, field environment and technical and engineering terms related to these practices
Ability to read through complex stat and federal regulations to determine applicability to varying client facilities and scenarios
Monitor federal, state, and local air quality regulations and rulemakings
Participate in trade and professional associations to support the above responsibilities
Demonstrates initiative by appropriately taking charge of situations
Strong verbal skills and ability to lead meetings with staff on air quality permitting and compliance
Valid drivers license and proven safe driving record
Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, or related field required
9+ years of experience in air quality permitting and compliance, environmental consulting, or a related field
Working Conditions/Physical RequirementsStanding and sitting for prolonged periods of time
Inclement weather conditions when field work is required
Some travel (5-10% annually) including overnight stay
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Expected Salary: $110,000 - $130,000 annually, DOE
